Porcelain Crowns and Veneers

Porcelain crowns or caps are a total coating of the tooth, simulating the entire anatomy of the crown. They can be made solely from porcelain or contain a nucleus of another material in order to give them greater consistency, such as metal or more recently zirconium.

What are their indications?

They are used when a large amount of dental tissue has been lost, for example after severe caries or trauma, as in these cases the retention of a veneer or filling would be very difficult. They are also used in cases of root canal treatment to give consistency to the whole tooth and avoid potential fractures as teeth treated endodontically weaken over time.

Porcelain veneers

They are sheets of porcelain of variable thickness which cover the front side of the teeth, generally used in the anterior sector, the purpose of which is almost always cosmetic. Veneers are attached to the shaped surface using an adhesive. They require a laboratory phase. With them we can change the shape of the tooth, slight malpositions and colour.
